If you’ve read some of my previous blog posts, it’s no secret we’ve been going through quite a bit within the last few months! Along with the stress of “life happening”, I’ve had a LOT of anxiety. I posted a video last month on my Facebook page to share my tips that help me cope with my anxiety (anxiety meds being my last option if necessary). Well, this past month, I’ve needed anxiety meds more often than usual. But, I can’t stand the way they make me feel; blah and tired. Determined to find something to replace my prescription anxiety medication, I did a little research and decided to try a natural approach. I mean, what did I really have to lose – except, possibly, my anxiety?
I came across an article online about a plant called Rhodiola Rosea. The benefits almost seemed too good to be true: increased energy, better mood, help with anxiety, stress and depression, lower cortisol (stress hormone), decreased appetite, weight loss (specifically belly fat), increased focus and mental clarity, increased athletic performance (boosts red blood cells), etc. After reading this article with a ton of scientifically backed data, I did what any other normal person would do; I looked up ” Rhodiola Rosea” on Amazon and read all of the reviews! 😉 The reviews SOLD me – CLICK HERE to check them out!
My package arrived last week. I honestly wasn’t expecting to feel much different. I’ve tried herbs in the past that didn’t work, and I was expecting the same results. I took my first Rhodiola Rosea pill and went about my day. I was on the phone with my mom while cleaning the house, and she said, “You sound extra peppy today! Did you just have coffee?”, and I said, “No, just running around the house, cleaning!”. She mentioned my peppiness a few times, and I just laughed it off, forgetting I had taken anything! I was in a great mood for the rest of the day. I didn’t even feel a mid-day energy crash like I sometimes do.
I didn’t realize the Rhodiola Rosea was working until today…
I was super tired this morning after Maddox’s 6th birthday party yesterday, and I took a pill before our morning walk. Halfway through our 3 mile walk, I felt super chatty – like, talking my poor husband’s ear off!! haha I felt an obvious boost of energy, and I was in a GREAT mood. When we got home, I googled “Rhodiola Rosea energy” and started reading about about how Rhodiola Rosea boosts erythropoetin which stimulates red blood cell production. Having a higher red blood cell count increases oxygen in your body, increases performance, and decreases fatigue. More energy and less anxiety? Yes please!! I am officially a fan. And, my hubby is happier because I am happier. Happy wife = Happy life, right? 😉
Hope this helps you guys!! Comment below if there is anything that helps YOU cope with your anxiety! I’d love to hear some of your tips!
